"Message on behalf of the Designated Official for Security for Guinea Bissau
(please make sure all staff receives this advisory)
Dear Colleagues
due to the recent reports of violent incidents that recurrently occur in some public places and the awareness about the local limitations on emergency response, I determine the following:
- No UN official vehicles should circulate after mid night (00:00 am) exception made for Medical or Security emergencies, Airport transportation or other Official business duly authorized.
- The following public places are considered as non safe for UN staff, therefore considered off-limits:
nightclub Sabura (Cupelon de cima)
nightclub Bambu (airport road)
nightclub Stop (Cupelon de baixo)
nightclub Lisboa 3 (Estrada de Bor)
- Also, UN staff members are strongly advised not to remain in any other similar places till very late in the evening - Emergency reactions time will be longer, therefore the effectiveness of the support will be lower.
- Finally, all UN staff members are invited to visit the Conduct and Discipline site (cdu.unlb.org)
